I tell my story through two books:

In 2013, at age 21, my life changed in an instant: an electrical shock at work sent 15,000 volts through my body, causing the loss of my left arm and severe damage to my right. In that moment, I faced a reality I never imagined I would experience. The suffering, fear, and confusion were immense.

My first book, Stronger Than Before (Matteo Conconi and Mara Travella, 2019, Salvioni Edizioni) recounts those first days and months. It's not just the story of an accident, but of how I learned to live with my new condition, to regain self-confidence, and to understand that strength isn't just measured in muscles, but also in the heart and mind.

Then came the desire to do more. Bionic Rider, Beyond Every Obstacle (Matteo Conconi and Teresa Chiariacò, 2025, Salvioni Edizioni) recounts the next step: how I decided to turn my challenge into a concrete passion: sport. I dedicated myself to downhill and enduro, competing against able-bodied riders, tackling technical descents and extreme courses with a prosthetic arm. Each race was a challenge to my limits, but also a demonstration that with determination and support, you can truly overcome any obstacle.

Bionic Rider, beyond all obstacles, also contains photos of my sporting life, and testimonials from those who have supported me – friends, physiotherapists, mechanics, orthopedists – which make the story even more real and close to the reader.

Ultimately, both books are about the same thing: never giving up, finding your inner strength, and turning obstacles into opportunities. My hope is that anyone who reads these pages will feel inspired to rise up in the face of adversity, whatever it may be.

Life can change in an instant, but from every change something extraordinary can arise. I've decided not to stop. And you?
